The Challenge
Possessors of various solvent technologies, Reprotronics' print capabilities were restricted to printing small jobs - namely of size 3.2 metres or under, or to design the material in different parts and then seam or stitch the pieces together in the final stage.
The main issues related to working in this manner were its impact on time and productivity. With large print jobs on hand, the demand was for a printer that accommodated large format print jobs, while significantly reducing print time and maintaining or improving print quality.

The Solution
The superwide format Blaze XLjet offering print capability of upto five metres and Reprotronics became one of the main contenders for this Blaze printer, says Sebastian Lonth, General Manager. What further supported the decision to acquire the Blaze XLjet is the speed at which the printer works at and its ability to print on a wide variety of media, including mesh and vinyl. Moreover, with a 370 x 740dpi resolution and the possibility of double-sided printing, Reprotronics would also be able to offer solutions that up to this time would not have been available through us, Lonth added. To further complement its share of printing for indoor applications, Rerotronics acquired the HP Designjet 5500.

The Benefit
Since its acquisition of the Blaze XLjet, the volume of Reprotronics' business has increased about 20%. In addition to this the high-performance Blaze XLjet, which made its GCC debut at the Sign & Graphics Imaging exhibition in 2002, it brings savings on time and manpower resources to the user - in a cost-effective package.
"Moreover, whenever we require service for the Blaze XLjet, Jacky's is always on hand to provide it on a priority basis, as well as regular servicing and software upgrades", said Lonth.
