Pepper the humanoid robot, renamed Salem by DHA, joined the team at Smart Salem, Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) first fully Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven autonomous medical fitness centre in Dubai. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, was welcomed by Salem (Pepper), upon his arrival at the centre during its inauguration last month.
VIPs, investors and holders of the golden residency visa can complete their medical fitness tests, get their results and visa stamped, all within 30 minutes at the new centre using AI and robotics. The centre has employed four robots, each with a different function (including customer service, relay, catering and vending, etc.). Pepper’s role is to be the first point of contact: welcome visitors to the centre, share information and direct them to the right counters.
