When we began this journey in 1970, Jacky’s wasn’t built on a five-year plan or a forecast of market trends. It started with a simple idea: to serve. What followed, over the next five and a half decades, is a story of evolution, opportunity, and a deep commitment to staying close to our customers, wherever they were in the world.
Our roots go back to Hong Kong, where the business was founded to supply products to diplomats through international mail orders. In those early years, I found myself immersed in a culture and language I didn’t know, learning the ropes of business the hard way — by doing. That foundation, built on persistence and adaptability, has shaped how we’ve approached every new chapter since.
From Hong Kong, our path led to Dubai. A chance layover in 1985 became the catalyst for something much bigger. What was meant to be a two-day visit turned into our first steps into the UAE market. We saw opportunity, and more importantly, we saw need — and as always, our focus was to meet that need with honesty, service, and long-term value. Within months, we opened our second office here. That decision became the bedrock of what Jacky’s would go on to become in the region.
We never chased expansion for its own sake. Whether it was setting up our own distribution company in Hong Kong or opening retail showrooms in Dubai, each move was driven by a practical purpose. We looked for places where we could add real value, not just sell products. And when we entered new territories — be it through trading, distribution, or retail — it was always with a commitment to build something sustainable, not just profitable.
Over the years, we’ve served customers in over 130 countries. Some were embassies and NGOs; others were large corporates and local businesses. We took the same approach with all of them: understand what they need, work hard to meet it, and build relationships that last. That mindset helped us grow not just across markets but also across industries.
From mail order to modern business solutions, Jacky’s today looks very different from where we began. But the philosophy remains the same. We continue to evolve — now with robotics, AI solutions, managed services, and digital transformation tools that help organisations across the Middle East work smarter. This isn’t change for the sake of change. It’s an extension of our original goal: to be useful.
The next generation of our family is leading this evolution with fresh energy and new ideas. They’re guiding Jacky’s into spaces like AI-powered education, enterprise mobility, and digital security — all while maintaining the values that built our reputation. I see my role now as support, not direction. I’ve often said: I’m still in the car, but I’ve moved to the back seat. And I’m proud of the journey they’re taking the business on.
Fifty-five years in, Jacky’s is still a family business — not just in ownership, but in how we operate. Our teams, many of whom have been with us for decades, are part of that family. So are our partners and customers, who continue to place their trust in us. We don’t take that lightly.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to the same principles that started it all: listen, adapt, deliver value, and serve with heart. Technology will change. Markets will shift. But our role — helping businesses make the most of those changes — stays constant.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
