Lulu Hypermarket explores Bellabot and Kettybot food delivery robots in their newest hypermarket in Sharjah

Jacky’s Business Solutions partnered with bluarrows to install Pudu Robotics’ Bellabot and Kettybot robots powered by Purplegrids AI at the latest hypermarket store launched last month by Lulu Group International in Bu Tina in Sharjah. This first of its kind innovative solution will deliver “ready to eat” food inside the store. Lulu now has 18 hypermarkets in Sharjah and 232 overall. Manoj Ganpathy, Division Manager at Jacky's Business Solutions for Visitors Management & Robotics Division, said, “We thank Lulu Group Management, Nandakumar and his team for trusting our capabilities and providing us with the opportunity to work on this initiative. The solution is expected to be scaled up in Lulu Malls in the future.” Jackys teams at both Jackys Organics and its Robotics division worked closely with Bluarrows for arranging creative support and partnerships. Bluarrows was already working on AI-enabled customer data platform for Lulu Group International and other clients in UAE. Rajesh Menon, Director at Bluarrows said, “We suggested to connect AI with robots as one of the customer touchpoints. This gives a life to robots as it is powered by NLP enabled AI Robotic Purplecloud Platform on IBM Watson. We had a thorough briefing on the robots and its usage by Manoj and his team. It was then we decided that Bellabot is a right solution for food delivery at restaurants and food courts. The teams of Jackys and Bluarrows worked with AI partners, Purplegrids from US, to create a solution for restaurant management and customer engagement using AI. The Robotic AI Cloud Platform was used to deploy at Lulu’s  Bu Tina Food Cafe. Customers had to order at the counter and once seated at any of the table, he or she scanned the QR code and enter the receipt number. The AI cloud understands the table of the customer and sends the notification to the kitchen and the Bellabot is assigned to deliver to the respective customer to his table location. Ganpathy added, “We are looking to fully explore the capabilities of our AI based technology in providing the latest in food delivery, dish collection experience where multi-branded food outlets can fully use the tech and deploy Jacky’s Autonomous robots enabling a new kind of customer experience while reducing face2face interaction while optimizing the operations and turnaround rate of customers.” The team is planning to automate the Silicon Central Food Court (located at Dubai Silicon Oasis) where customer can be seated at any table, scan the QR code and order food, pay, and have the food delivered by either the Bellabot or Kettybot robot. Menon added, “Kettybot is preferred as a marketing bot for its capabilities of video ad displays, aisle agnostic ads deployment, campaign management and much more using the Purplecloud AI Platform.” If you want to explore what service robots can do for your business, schedule a demo or a POC with Jacky’s VMS team by emailing vms.sales@www.jackys.com. Cafes and restaurants employ Service robots, Bellabot and KettyBot – around the UAE

Last month we shared the story about how Noodle House and Kiza Dubai have been trialling various robots to improve their service efficiencies. Kiza Dubai is now employing the Bellabot it was testing as a full time employee to help the waiting teams deliver the food to the tables at their restaurant. According to their social media comments, they have named the bot “Move-Fasa” and she assists the waiters. In addition, two cafes – one in Abu Dhabi and one in Ras al Khaimah – have added Kettybot to their staff. Treat Yourself Café in Abu Dhabi are using the KettyBot to enhance their customer service by providing a new experience of dining in by delivering the food to the diners using the service robot. According to the owners, “Adding Kettybot makes our café unique and the footfall has increased automatically as well as got us noticed on social media like Instagram, Facebook and others”. In addition to delivering to dine-in customers, Treat Yourself Café is using Kettybot to entertain as a birthday host as well as use as an indoor signage for key messages and information. Based in Ras Al Khaimah’s Corniche Road, Gusto Restaurant is using the new Kettybot addition to create a new touchpoint for its customers. In addition to food delivery for dine-in customers, Kettybot enables the restaurant to share information around new additions to the menu, and other key messages like special birthday wishes or other special offers. Both robots are from Pudu Robotics and come with delivery trays, docks as well as display options that offer restaurants not just service options but also options for display and promotions. Jackys Business Solutions’ VMS division offered its their service robots (Kettybot, Bellabot or Pudubot) for a week’s trial for free to suitable restaurants to try them before buying. Abu Dhabi-based Sicilian restaurant, Dolci & Capricci, adds robots to its workforce

Dolci & Capricci has expanded his robot workforce that now includes Pepper from Softbank Robotics and Bella and Pudu robots from Pudu Robotics. Dolci & Capricci, specialising in Sicilian cuisine, has three outlets in Abu Dhabi, with the first restaurant launched three years ago and the third planned for launch in the Grand Mosque area in April. Restaurant owner, Alberto Leotta, is equally passionate about the cuisine as he is about new technology. He said, “As far back as 12 years ago, I used a multi-touch table in my restaurant in Italy to create conversations and allow my customers to see the menu, order directly from their table. So, technology is important to me. Not just functionally but also to create a point of difference for our customers.” Alberto always planned to use robots in his restaurants. Alberto felt that because of Covid but also as part of the evolving future and a new era of robots, he knew that he wanted to explore this more. He started his robot workforce with Pepper in his current restaurant after seeing it in action at DEWA two years ago. In addition to being popular among the Dolci & Capricci patrons, Pepper shares the history of the restaurant, the menu and also allows customers to record their feedback about the restaurant and its food. “It is entertaining for our customers and many return not just for the food (which is exceptional) but also to interact with Pepper,” added Alberto. One key point of difference for Alberto was that Pepper can be programmed and that it learns as it interacts with the customers. He has been working with the team at Jacky’s to ensure that the robots are updated and that the latest versions are customised for use at the restaurant. “Every time we use Pepper, or our customers interact with it, the software updates and learns to interact and react better,” he added. Soon, he hopes that the facial recognition feature will be updated and customised so that Pepper will be able to recognise regular patrons of the restaurant. In his second restaurant in Masdar City, Alberto decided to add the Bella and Pudu robots to help with delivering food to the tables. He plans to have another Pepper robot at the new restaurant to interact with the customers like it does at its current branch. “The Bella and Pudu robots can cater to multiple tables and orders working alongside our waiters, increasing the restaurant’s efficiency as well as maintaining social distancing, keeping our customers safe,” pointed out Alberto. Alberto will continue to work with the team at Jackys to explore and get the most out of his robot workforce. Jacky’s Business Solutions expands its robot line up with two new hospitality robots

Jacky’s Business Solutions has added two hospitality bots from Pudu Robotics to its line-up: the PuduBot and BellaBot food delivery robot for hospitality business. These two new robots support employees by taking on repetitive work so that they can focus on providing better service to their customers. These food delivery robot for restaurants can play a key role in working autonomously 24×7, thanks to replaceable batteries and its accurate navigation system. Both these robots use cutting edge technologies such as PUDU SLAM which is an algorithm that integrates the sensors such as laser radar and depth camera, handling complex and demanding environments and can operate autonomously. These delivery robots are efficient as it can hold large capacity, moves fast and readily useable. Moreover, it has a safety system built in which will ensure hassle free delivery without spills and bumping into restaurant guests. Servicing is relatively easy, and the robot can work 24 hours with 4 hours of charging (PuduBot), whereas BellaBot comes with swappable batteries making it work 24×7. Both robots help to minimize human contact when delivering food directly to tables, helping restaurants to limit human contact points, thus maintaining hygiene standards. This is especially important for quick service restaurants (QSR’s) where there is always a surge during the busy lunch period and temporary staff may need to be deployed at times. The hospitality sector in the UAE and Gulf has grown exponentially over the years and with the onset of Covid, the emphasis on food safety has only increased.  The robots from Pudu Robotics help reduce the contact points as the food can go straight from the kitchen to the table. Manoj Ganapathy, Divisional Manager for Visitor Management Solutions (VMS) at Jacky’s Business Solutions, added, “Both robots are supported by Jacky’s team of technical presales and sales team to ensure that customer requirements are met with a high degree of efficiency. Robotics technology is ever evolving and getting smarter, efficient, and cost effective. In the recent past, we have noticed that robots are being successfully deployed in various industries as a “co-worker” or “cobot”, saving operational costs and improving productivity.” If you want to talk to the team about these robots or schedule a demo, drop us an email on vms.sales@www.jackys.com for more detailed and personalised discussions.
